So my Adsense e-mail is admin@[mymaindomain].com and I changed to an unmanaged server. I can't seem to get my e-mail working and I'm worried about google e-mailing me.

Is there any way to change my e-mail to something that's more reliable in case of a stupid admin (me) or my server going down? I would like to change it to a gmail account.

Second question would be anyone want to help me setup my mail on a linux box :)

You can login to your Adsense account and change your email address.

It might be better to use your ISP email (from the place you get your actual internet connection from), since that should still work even if your site goes down.

You cannot change your login email in your profile so you'll need to contact AdSense Support.

Just be sure the new email address is not the same as an Adwords account...

What would be the problem with that?

Yes.. I have the same email for adwords and adsense too.
What's wrong with this?

Hmm...when I tried to sign up for an Adsense Account with the same email as my Adwords account, they wanted a different address.

The process of changing your login email address is well documented at the adsense support:

wow, that seems like a complicated process.

I think setting up a challenge phrase or something would be a bit easier to manage.

From online banks, paypal, to just about every affiliate program I've seen, they all allow you to update your email address using on online form once you've logged into your account.

I wonder why they would make it so different for adsense.

Probably because the email address is also the login for AdSense. There you can change password, billing address, anything. I'm glad they take the necessary steps to keep it secure.

That's no different than PayPal or many other financial institutions.

It still doesn't explain why the extra measures are taken for this particular service (although, I guess Google would be the only ones that could explain that).

It's not as bad as it seems. I had reason to change my email recently, and Adsense staff were quick to respond. All the info they need to change it, is easily found once logged in.

kodaks, I think they changed that policy now as I was able to sign up with the same email, password and everything.

As of about a month ago (when I needed to change my e-mail address), the policy was that if you wanted the same e-mail address as your AdWords account you could do so, but you had to close your account and re-apply for AdSense and choose 'existing AdWords customer' in the sign-up form. You could then have the same e-mail for both.

For what it's worth, when I requested the change it was late on a Friday afternoon (and it was imperative that I could change the account asap), and even though it took a couple of e-mails from both ends to get us singing off the same song sheet, the responses from Google (Phoebe) were fast, courteous and they got the job done in no time at all.

I still get all warm and fuzzy when I think back to the encounter....
