I can't help but notice that adwords.google.com redirects to adwords.google.com/adsense/system_down.html

In German it says down until 9 a.m. CET February 27th. That should be 12 p.m. somewhere in the US.

AdSense is temporarily down due to system maintenance until approximately 12 a.m. PST (US) on Feb. 26. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Perhaps they meant 12-NOON instead of 12-MIDNITE.

AdSense is temporarily down due to system maintenance until approximately 8 a.m. GMT on Feb. 26. We apologise for any inconvenience.

That would be 2.am. central US, aka midnight in Cali on Feb. 26th.

In German they say 9 am on 27th February and on UK English 8 am on 26th February(?). UK and Germany are on 25 hour difference. This looks like a big joke :)

Anyone care to speculate the reason for this system maintenance? Just for fun?

Me, I think they are implementing a safe guard against another data center going down which was responsible for skewing the CTR/CPM downwards earlier this month.

Wild speculation during a boring lull.

I just noticed someone saying Sapphire and while I don't want to start a flame war I have to say that good old Tanqueray is an equal if not greater delight. So while you on the other side of the atlantic get loaded on gin & tonic "refreshing" your adsense logins you might give pause and consider all the wonderful ways in which to imbibe oneself.

<P>Having said that I still get this nice system outage page. "temporariamente indisponível" sounds like being temporarily indisposed. Very appropriate.

I think they are tweeking the new payment checking page. They watched webmasterworld for opinions, then after some of us stated them they took it into their hands and wanted to make it better ;)

Also, since no one has received a check by them yet? Perhaps they truly are adding direct deposits and/or paypal?

I have both Sapphire and Tanqueray, I drink the Tanqueray w/tonic, as it's bold flavor stands out. The sapphire I use for martinis, where it's delicate flavor shines, or like now - in times of crisis, when I can't check my total for the day before going to bed, which means I'll toss all night - SAPPHIRE STRAIGHT ON THE ROCKS

The French version says "jusqu'au 26 février, aux environs de midi." which would be 11.00 GMT

Pretty interesting how the dates don't match. Maybe they just don't know when it will be done. ;)

Still down for me at 1:30am PST

Also, I'm on the Vodka Sky + Cranberry tonight - just seeing as everyone else seems to be talking about alcohol --- mmmmmm.

Maybe they're just getting sloppy!

Maybe Adsense Advisor (we definitely need AA) will chime in and tell us which time zone (or twilight zone) that page is talking about.

until approximately 12 a.m. PST (US)

ap·prox·i·mate

1. Almost exact or correct: the approximate time of the accident.

I guess +/- hours/days is approximate once you're listed on Nasdaq

The pig latin version says:

"Why are you obsessed with this? Be patient and go do something else you idiot."

It could possibly be the fact that they are/were planning on finishing updates of different servers at different times of the day. A big update would not happen instantaneously over all datacenters immediately. Just speculation.

2 hours later, sigh, guess I'll go to bed - but if Adsense isn't functioning in the morning I may excrete a pre-fabricated rectilinear terra cotta building block.
