new to adwords, not new to seo

so yeah, I'm an adwords newbie, I mostly focus on other aspects of monetizing my sites, but I now have a site thats getting tons of hits, but has lost its product. It is still very popular on the topic, so i figured throwing adwords on there couldn't hurt.

This may be an impossible question to answer, but is adwords worth putting up on a site that gets about 26,000 unique visitors a month, (vertical is import automotive).

Can you broadly guesstimate what the return might be, low and high?

And yes, your broad generalized maybe completely off guesstimate will still help me, since I have no reference for potential at all as of yet.
