I find all of this talk about diversification rather hollow. I would love to diversify income but, ... it would just dilute income to place other ads on my pages.

That sounds really logical, and it's what I thought until recently.

But I recently placed some additional advertising on pages that I also have adsense on. I put some effort into making the additional advertising work.

My adsense income from those pages went WAY up.

That may not happen for everyone, but it sure worked out well for me.

Making a site's revenue streams diverse doesn't make your income necessarily so. You can have a million baskets other than Adsense but if they're all web-based then you're still in one basket.

google is one $30 billion basket. I have no problem with a $3 million basket. you could have 100 baskets which is worthy 3,000 dollars.

True, but if we use that argument then the local car wash has all their eggs in one basket (car washing), the local meat market has all their eggs in one basket (food), the gas station has all their eggs in one basket (gas), the travel agency has all their eggs in one basket (travel), etc. Most companies are specialized in one way or another. Only the largest companies can diversify across multiple business lines.
