I have a site with Adsense that I also want to promote with Adwords.

I have an xyz news site that has adsense ads. I would like to promote the site further with adwords with "xyz news" as the keyword, then exclude my own site in my adsense account.
Has anyone done this? Both my Adwords and Adsense are the same user account. Is there any reason Google would not like this?
Thanks.

No problems I can see.

Many people have both AdWords and AdSense - in fact, when you sign up for AdSense, it asks you to use the same login as you used for AdWords. So it is obviously something they expected, and have no problem with :)

Thank you both for the input! I have been using them in different areas up to now. I'll give it a whirl!

One suggestion: block your own URL. After all you don't want people to click on it since they are already on your site!

I'm not certain that blocking your own URL is neccessary. I have had a few sites running with adsense and adwords and have yet to see my own ads appear.

I considered blocking my own url but never did it in case I put my Adsense code on other sites that I own.
I have never seen my own ad appear on my own site either. Perhaps Google already keeps this from happening.
