AdSense for Search

Does it pay?

I'm thinking about trying AdSense for search. I'm not sure it's a good idea though because some people have said that it pays relatively little and draws traffic away other revenue generators.

Now that it's been around for a while, does anyone have an educated opinion about the pros and cons?

I tried it for a few weeks and found out that I made considerably less than when I used my own site-search script with regular AdSense code on the SERPS. I went back to the original setup and my earnings went right back up along with it.

I have the AdSense for search at my site. I made $220 with the regular Adsense and just $15 with the Adsense for search( August numbers). As I used the Google search at my site I will stay with the Adsense for search.

The general consensus seems to be that it doesn't pay well at all. However, if you're not currently making anything off your site search, (and can't make anything off your site search), the it's a robust little product that earns something on the side.

It depends on the kind of site you are running. I monitor 5 sites and it provides pretty good revenue for two of them. I have also used my own site-search script with regular AdSense code on the SERPS, but most of the time only PSAs were served and it proved to be a bad revenue generator for me as opposed to the adsense for search which is real good.
