Is it ok to set URL color to the background color?

Is it ok to set URL color to the background color? As we all know banner, half banner and Leaderboard do not display the URL,it may help to get additional clicks, so I am wondering if it is allowed to set the skyscrapper URL color to the background color? What if I set it to a color that is similar to the background color?

Anyone has any experience with that?

It's not allowed. (I asked this once of Google and they said no).

Even if you did, it would show up as either black or white, depending on the background color.
