Big drop in Earnings/CPM

Hi all

Anyone see a big drop in earnings for 8th?

Similar Impressions and Clicks as previous days, but earnings are only 20% of the average. CPM down the same

My CPM went up by 33% compared to the same day one week earlier.

No drop across my sites.

Slightly up on some, but nothing statistically relevant.

Yeah, right now (2:30 pm 7/10), it shows the CTR for the 8th was 1/3 to 1/2 that of the earlier days of July.

However, my earnings on the 7th were the highest for one day since I joined back in Oct. My 2nd highest ever was the 6th, 3rd highest is July 5.

If that's the new pattern, 3 days of record earnings followed by 1 below average day, sign me up!

Or even more dramatic, so far in July I've already made almost as much (within cents, literally) as all of June, & June was my best full month ever. If that rate continues July will triple June's earnings.

What I think is happening on the reports is the earnings are taking longer to show up. So I bet right now some of the earnings for the 8th aren't included in the totals. I'm thinking the numbers aren't final for 3-4 days.

This definitely disproves the theory that earnings & CTR are down across the board. And yes, I've been adding pages to my site, but no new ones have been indexed recently.

I've found that attempting to forecast your CPM or EPC on a day to day basis is next to hopeless - at least for my site. A few down days will then be followed by a few up days - with no rhyme or reason why, really. In the end, all that counts is your monthly EPC and CPM. And at least for me - that has pretty much remained constant.

I agree with Jimh009--it's impossible to draw meaningful conclusions from day-to-day performance. Yesterday was my lowest effective CPM of the month; today is the highest. Tomorrow could go either way or be somewhere in between.

I record my stats daily. The topic here prompted me to go back and look at this month a few minutes ago.

July 5th to 7th have been revised sharply upward.

Yes, the 8th was my best day ever. Clearly things go up and down.

My CPM is going up again on july 8->9->10->11. It has completely recovered from the huge drop on june 26th.

Google is probably still tuning the system...

It seems we must learn to live with fluctuations up to 50%, but it can be scary sometimes.
