anyone know if its ok to have adsense on page 2 times i mean a tower down the side and block up top?

if its ok, do you think one of them will display public service all the time?

actually looking at the TOS it says this.. and I agree with david its not clear...

read this

"Ad Placement
Multiple ad units may be displayed on each Web site page, but no ad unit shall contain any advertisement in common with any other ad unit."

Case here shows they allow multiple ads but have some law against both ads showing the same thing.. problem with that is adsense is based on what content you ahve so if its on loans.. the page is on loans the adsense will both be on loans

its confusing

yeah, google really should make their policies comply fully with their Terms of Service.

This question has been covered many times by the Google reps - the TOS says that you cannot put code which would present an adword for the same company on the same page.

Since Google is currently the only one that control that - there's no way for us to influence this - it is still against TOS.

Short answer: not allowed.

Longer answer: perhaps in the (near?) furure?
I've been told ads formerly used to be targeted for words close to the adsense code in stead of the "theme" of the page. In that light it makes more sense.

is it ok to have a competing contextual ad as the alternate adsense ad?

therefore it only shows up when adsense doesn't

The wording of the TOS was changed a while back so as to permit something of the kind. ASA suggested that the change was because they were preparing a launch of a new feature, and didn't want to change the TOS.

However, so far it's not allowed. Discussion here: [webmasterworld.com...]

therefore it only shows up when adsense doesn't

Yep, that's fine. Just don't run them together on de same page.

Yes, it's not allowed. Here is the last mail I have received from Google, just a few minutes ago:

<paraphrased>
As there is nothing in place to prevent double serving of showing the identical ads more than once on a single page, you can only have a maximum of one ad unit per page.</paraphrased>

What if one is in an iframe and serves different ads due to different content?

You are not permitted to do that because your ads must be in the frame that has the main content.

How is "main content" defined?

With multiple ads on a page, we presume that Google means that we can place other ads provided by other agencies in the same page where we have the Adsense ads. So we place banner ads, skyscrapers from other ad agencies together with adsense in a page. Some ad agencies also have text ads similar to google's and we don't post them. Well, of course, that is our presumption and we just keep it that way.
