I went to around 12 different websites that display adsense. Each of those stalls out.
I tried in an old version of netscape (Adsense dosen't appear in the old versions) and the page loads fine.
So it is narrowed down to my internet explorer (which always worked - need to update netscape) or Adsense.
Would you all mind checking your own sites and/or surf around on other sites that use Adsense and see if it working properly or not?
But, it happened again last night. I reported it, but no fix yet. :( They did reply, though, to say they're working on it.
Ideally, they should just immediately roll-back to a prior code base that didn't have this problem.
Also, they should provide a "wrapper" HTML code, or something, so that when it fails, it fails GRACEFULLY. The entire page isn't loading, just because the AdSense can't load. That's unacceptable. Better to show a blank spot for the banner, but load the rest of the page.
That would happen if the AdSense was an "iframe", but then the Google bot couldn't know (or could it?) which page loaded it, so it couldn't optimize the ads for the content.
For me it's been intermittent, and always at work (IE 5.5/Windows 2000), never at home (IE 6.0/XP). Other posters zeroed in on which version of 6.0 (2300 vs. 2600?)
Google's reply didn't exactly say they had fixed anything. It just asked if my experience had improved.
Beats me what the problem really is, but it sure gets reported frequently.
For me, I havent noticed it in the past few days/week.
