Someone in another forum tells me that he is able to track AdSense clicks. He says he can track:

1)IP of click
2)Which ads were clicked
3)How much each click is

I am very very suspicious. How can he do that?

By the way, although it is not difficult to get the source code of AdSense iframe, I still don't think it is possible to detect detailed clicks, do I?

ebizcamp: Except for "How much each click is," you can track this information using one of several java scripts that have been posted to this forum. You might try a search. Googles reporting will not give you this informaiton.

Yes you can detect clicks, but there's no way to track how much a given click is worth.

There's a thread which is archived in the WW library that contains the Javascript code required. I used a version for a while, but the introduction of channels made it largely redundant. You'll need to be a little handy to implement the tracking script and do anything useful with the data.

Never_again,

It is the #3 that makes me highly over the man's words. Because AdSense iframe source code(ad?**** **** xxx)is available, it is really possible to track something, but how can the value of per click be detected? So magic

Getting any of this would violate the TOS and, frankly, I don't see what the use would be. What are you going to do, approach the advertisers yourself? Recipie for pain that is!

As I've suggested before, without breaking the TOS you can serve up ads with channels that track anything knowable when the page is served, provided that information can be encoded within the channel limit. So, you could track revenue by time of day, and make a good stab at how your ads are faring in different countries, but not by specific IPs.

As I said in my post, you can't track how much a click is worth.

Here is the thread for the AdSense tracking script: [webmasterworld.com ]

suidas, you can use the above-mentioned script to track by ad, by date/time and by IP address without breaking the TOS. The only piece (a big piece) missing is revenue. This was explicitly confirmed by AdSenseAdvisor in this forum.

Why doesn't google provide this information to all of us? they know we can use the scripts, so why not just give us access to this infomration straight from the Adsense webpage.

If AdSense tracking code cannot detech $$ per click, it is useless, in my point of view. Anyway, as a publisher, I have few control over what ads will display in my pages. (Publishers can only set limited URL filters)

I don't use it but can see it would be useful for picking up on any dodgy activity, if certain IPs were clicking continuously then you could instantly tell and just deny them access.

Agreed. I value my relationship with Adsense (and Google) very much, and seeing number of clicks by IP address would certainly help me to protect myself (and Google) from fraud.

I've developed a set of AdSense tracking scripts, and I must completely disagree with this statement. I was able to triple my CTR on a number of my pages from the detailed reports I was getting that Google wasn't giving me.

My scripts tell me what keywords people are finding my pages on in the search engines, and of those keywords which keywords are generating clicks. I have optimized my pages for the search engines and keywords that I'm getting results from, which increased my clicks.

My scripts tell me what linking web sites are sending users to my page, and the CTR of visitors from those sites.

My scripts tell me which -pages- are getting clicks, which tells me what info my visitors want and lets me know what topics are worth adding new content for.

I could go on, but there's no point. I and the others who use my scripts have seriously improved our AdSense revenue because of it. I've gotten lots of great feedback in this regard.

The bottom line: thanks to my scripts I've boosted my monthly revenue by 30%, and I am not alone.

Are these commercially available or freeware? I'm sure most of us not already using script tracking would be very interested!

They are commercially available. You can always sticky me if you're interested, but I didn't want to come across as pushing my wares, rather I wanted to make the point that good tracking scripts are -very- valuable.

Are there any scripts out there that are logging the referring page as well as the search engine querries? I've been looking - and cannot find any scripts that provide a VAST improvement over channels - for those of us with limitted page qty.

(Although I hate having to wait 2 days to see what pages I'm seeing activity on)
