Just wanted to see what everyone's thoughts were for Google AdSense.

So far we are very happy with the results we are seeing on our website. It is amazing to see such targeted ads in such a short time. The longest we have waited for ads to become targeted to the page is 2 hours. Their are a few areas with session ID's that still will not work but we are working around this issue...

I think Google is doing an amazing job with helping Small-Medium sized businesses generate revenue. With other major players coming out with similar systems I am confident that Google will try their very best to accomodate us in the future. At present we get the best of both worlds... Google sends us thousands of visitors at no cost and now pays us to use their targeting software! Sounds pretty good to me :)

Does Google make sense for your website?

Truly, I agree with you on this :)

Its sending us visitors in 0000's & sending us checks as well :)

Google Adsense will end the regime of the ad networks that have so far been lousy to not have introduced the concept of targeted advertising and have been very money-minded most of the time as well as giving the publishers pretty low revenues than what Google is providing.

Hope Google stays this way for long.

Yeah, and I can't believe how generous Google is with some of the CPC%.

Most ad networks want most of the money and give beans to the publisher... I think Google is making a lot of ad networks tremble in fear. I think Google is making a lot of new friends. Advertisers and Publishers

How ya like them apples?

Yes, its not paying as much per thousand impressions as for our own advertisers that we work with direct, but take off the cost of "selling", admin, and servicing, and its significantly ahead. (If that CPM comes down 10 to 20% in future it wont be :)).

For us very good targeting of ads, the panels look good on our site, and its more interesting for readers as we are getting far more advertisers rather than just 3 or 4 at a time.

Finally we can also use adsense on pages that are related, but not the main thrust of our site (like travel sections etc), and where we never had advertisers before.

Great points!

Got to agree with you on both those.

I have been able to steadily push up CTR by getting better targeted ads (punter more likely to click on them) and learning where the best place is to put the ads on an individual page (its not always a skyscraper that is best)

So right now it is working for me.

I will be interested to see how many "opportunistic" sites AdSense spams, that is sites designed to make money on AdSense and having no other raison d'etre. And, because a sure as eggs is eggs it will, how will Google deal with these

Yes, I think it is making lots of friends and it will keep on making as long as it stays like this. This is perhaps the only huge internet company that really cares about its surfers, advertisers, and publishers :)
