I am running a regional site, so to say, where people I know and their friends visit often. too often.
- it's more like a huge online photo Gallery, where users upload photos and look at other's albums.
2000 + page views. 20 active users.

I just implemented Adsense. and made my first buck :)
...
Is there a way to make these day-by-day users click the banners? I have noticed CTRs going from 3% to 0.3% in just 4 days...
may it be the weekend?

is there a certain adSense layout that works for this kind of sites? should Ads really stand out?
I have a light gray design.. (very close to what you guys seem to like - pure white)
Shoudn't I have ads at all? Shound I be looking for something to sell to these regional visitors... that at most live within 4 km from where I live?

Thank you.

I've found that banners and pop-unders work better for my community sites. Some users don't like them, but unfortunately, no one clicks on ads so going the CPM route works better $ wise for me.

CPM is a system where you are paid per impression, rather than per click.
