clicks disappearing from AdSense report

I just refreshed my AdSense report to see if it had changed from half an hour ago (yes, i know it's sad and I should get a life!), and both the click number and the reported earnings had actually reduced. I can't recall the exact numbers from the earlier check (I'm not so sad that I write them all down), but I think it was 3 or 4 clicks out of a total of around 100 for the day, with a proportional reduction in the income total.

Has anyone else ever noticed this? How would you explain it? Just a bug in AdSense? Or clicks that were recorded and then later discarded for some reason?

I would take a guess that they might be clicks that were filtered out for some reason.

Click-bot?
User clicking the back button and going to another ad?

This has been reported in at least a few threads. I can't find them, though - except for a post of mine I had bookmarked.

Yes, I have noticed this. I am pretty sure that this is a bug and I have reported it to Google.

Notice that when you see less clicks, you also see less impressions. This means you are seeing a past version of the report that you have requested before.

I also seen this effect in the URL filter list. I add a site and when I see the listing, not only I do not see the site I added, but I also see only a past version of the URL filter list. I need to keep reloading to see an updated list.

My guess is that Google uses different back ends that keep out of sync copies of the Google AdSense account pages. I only started noticing this recently. Maybe they just added more backend servers lately.

I am preparing a couple screenshots, copies of the HTML of the pages as well the HTTP request and response headers provided by Mozilla LiveHTTPHeaders.

You may also want to report so they do not think it is not a real problem as they were not able to reproduce the problem without more information.

I have observed many times that reports for a given date range are cached for a period of something like an hour, and will not change during that time. But if I request a fresh date range, I get much more recent numbers.

I have occasionally seen numbers go "down" when displaying a current report followed by one of the cached reports which has yet to update.

I check all the time (multiple times per day) and have never seen a report dip in either impressions or clicks.
