Has anyone noticed a drop in impressions

I have started to use a couple of the new sizes and I have noticed a drop in impression over the last 12 hours or so.

Clicks are normal so it is sending my CTR sky high. I have written to google about it, I was just wondering if anyone else was getting this

I'm still not seeing adverts in IE6, but I am with Mozilla. Anyone else having this problem?

Impressions about 25% of what they normally are, but clicks look normalish (and therefore CTR% is way up). Therefore it looks like the impression stats are in a bit of a flux. I came here to see if I was the only one... doens't look that way.

Same for us. Impressions way down, CTR 3 times normal.

Checking my logs versus Adsense impressions, for today so far I'm seeing:

Number of actual page impressions = N
Alternate adsense ad impressions = A

N - A = Adsense reporting + ~1k (probably just the time lag, not statistically significant difference)

Which makes me wonder if Adsense is no longer counting alternate ad displays as impressions...

Anyone else care to do some similar math on their stats for today?

We also need to remember that it is Saturday and that will knock off about 15% or so off the impressions as well as compared to yesterday.

OK, i'm happy to read this string of posts. My Saturday:

- Traffic is normal (for a saturday)
- Clicks delivered to Google - normal for this time of the day on a Saturday
- Impressions - about one third of what they should be at this time of the day on a Saturday.
- CTR - unnervingly high, due to the second and third bullets above.

My conclusions:

- clicks are being updated in real time
- page view reporting is lagging.

Hopefully, nothing to panic about.

though this is a reasonable conclusion as well...

We've researched this issue extensively today. We've determined that there's only one possible reason for this drop in impressions today:

Google is under reporting impressions today.

In situations like this, it's great to have a resource like WWWorld to confirm that others are dealing with the same thing we are.

No one panic. It's all good. Google uses computers just like the rest of us, and as we all know, from time to time computers can have a mind of thier own (of course its usually human error but we like to blame it on the computer anyways :) I'm sure this will get straightened out soon.

Where is GoogleAdvisor these days? Does he still hang out here?

[Google is under reporting impressions today.]

I agree. I have stats to prove that.

I too see a dramatic gap in impressions and pages served. They are normally pretty close, but it's about 1 to 3. I'm sure she'll catch up later tonight :).

I'm inclined to think it's just under reporting of impressions.

My impression count from yesterday just updated in the last hour or so. That brought my CTR for yesterday down to a more normal number for me.

I checked my log files. My impressions are down 30% but only 5% of those are alternate ads.

Just to add to the chorus: My impressions are also down by 50% and the CTR is up two times what it was. I thought I had a click bot going over my site. But the experience others are having is just too similar. I doubt this is a Yahoo effect or anything other than a mistake at Google. Due to the number of "Impressions down and CTR up" posts, I would say that the case is almost closed. Thanks to webmasterworld, I was worried for a while.

Same thing here.

Webmaster World is great. Every time I notice something weird going on with AdSense, I pop over to check the message boards and the answer is there.

I've also noticed my impressions are far too low and my CTR is astronomically high. It appears to be a widespread issue.

Very happy to see this thread. :)

My adsense impressions are way down...and I had no way to figure out why, other than Fastclick ad stats, which appear on the same pages as Adsense on my site.

Fastclick ads are more or less normal, but adsense page views are about a quarter of what they normally are, click thru rate a bit higher, but not enough to bring revenue where it normally should be.

With me, there were multiple factors to consider in this change: major revamping of the layout and text of a PR6 homepage; new yahoo results (where I came out ahead, if anything), and the google update, where i fell from #1 for my most popular keywords, but now occupy #2 and #3, which is beneficial imho.

Anyway...yes...WebmasterWorld came through again, and answered at least some of my concerns, albeit by letting me know that others share them.

Thanks, WebmasterWorld!

Yes my impressions are down but clicks and other stats seem normalish too. I came here to see if anyone else had that problem and it looks like we all do. Should be fixed soon I hope.

Maybe they decided to try not counting alternate ads...? That would account for lower impressions and higher CTR (at least for those of us using alternates). Whatever, the end result is roughly the same for a typical Saturday for me (and yes, I'm also seeing the same thing everyone else is).

I run Adsense on around 4500 pages or so and on many websites.....impressions are around the same (steady), but the CTR has dropped dramatically.....down around 50% or so in the past 2 weeks. Eeek!

Hopefully this clears up, but at anyrate, I would rather have 50% MORE than what I had before I started Adsense 9 months ago.

PS: I love the new banners! Especially the new 5 ad vertical!

Thanks Googlemiester

Is publishing Fastclick a violation of the Adsense TOS?

Impressions are back to the correct value. Perhaps a temporary change of algorithm in reports...

At the end of the day, all stats back to normal. Impressions must have been running behind schedule ;-)

Is anyone else seeing the same lag in impression totals for today?

Thanks

I can also confirm that reported impressions gradually increased over the weekend back to the norm, and are again within 1% of my own calculated total.
