My site is top 3 in a very general keyword, and of the entire first page, I'm the only one using adsense.

I searched with this general keyword and in the #1 spot under sponsored links, a nice ad for my site is displayed. At first I thought someone was advertising their site by making it look like my own... But no, it goes to my URL.

So now I'm thinking that Google realized that it would be making the most money by directing as much traffic to my site as they can, and though they make no money of people clicking on the link to my site I'm sure they make more by the clicks that come from on my site.

Still, this is super strange, anyone know anything more about it?

I searched other related keywords and I was able to find so far one other keyword where my site shows up in the sponsored links (also in top spot).

That sounds like a win-win situation! I'd love to have Google promoting my website through AdWords for free! :)

Congrats it does happen.

There are still special niches that are favored by search engines, in the quest to be more usefull.

I saw my site show in sponsored links on yahoo one time, I didn't pay for it. Kind of wish that it would happen each day!
