Just started my site friend said it can make 2,000 monthly

I just started my website and added adsense and my friend said that it has potential to make 2,000 monthly. I am kind of suprised but my quesion is does google pay for clicks, impression or both?

Some ads pay by 1000 impressions, but almost all are per click. $2000 monthly with a new site is near impossible without a lot of quality traffic.

"Potential" is kind of a funny word. It's best to put dollar figures out of your head and concentrate on building the kind of site that people enjoy and will recommend to others. If you can do that, success is assured.

If you already put Adsense on your site, and you still don't know if Google pays per click, I think you should read the Adsense terms of service including the webmaster guidelines very good and right now! Cause if you don't, your next thread might be "Adsense banned me for no reason!".

Judging by his nick, when the OP (Ravi) says '2000', perhaps he means Indian Rupees (INR) 2000, which would be just under US$50 (a month).

Ravi, depending on what sort of site and traffic you have, this may not be very difficult but, as others have pointed out above, please make sure you read the AdSense TOS carefully and also read as much as you can on here at WebmasterWorld before you take the plunge, if you want AdSense to be a long-term revenue stream for your site / business.

To make USD 2000 , you need huge traffic from USA and Europe.. Local Indian traffic will never make you so much.

Wait for 6 months before getting an idea of the 'potential'. This is what I feel.

Thanks for the advice everyone...I am going to finish my site first and worry about adsense later. Anyways I am from NJ not India...but 2,000 rupees lol..my friends saw the post and now keep call me 2,000 rupees thanks for that one..but I will read everything on this site and learn as much as possible..thanks again

Unless you cheat and don't get caught, you will never be able to make $2000 a month with completely new website. It's almost impossible. You need to invest some time to market your website and get quality traffic. Your earnings will also depend on the quality of your content.
