Am I just so unlucky to get conversions from people from poorer countries or is 10 cents normal?

Google don't tell you what countries pay you what part of a dollar, they just tell you that one dollar is the maximum. In fact they seem to say that all referrals pay the dollar when you join up.

Do you think Google discourages the 'encouraging' of users to download FF via referrals on our pages?

I know if you say "click my ads", the advertiser looses money, but if you say "click the download button and get firefox", Google wins (they want the world to use that toolbar!) - and, if the user clicks, but doesn't install it, nobody looses anything.

I have a site that caters to people who genuinely should be using firefox, and i really push the use of of it, but i've had to be careful not to say "click the get Firefox button to install it"...

If i (we) got more aggressive with the wording to download FF, would Google care, or would they be happy? Or would i banned?

Good question, I was wondering the same thing lately.
Could we use something like :
"This site is best viewed using Firefox and the Blushift theme."

In fact, all of Google's referral buttons are a mystery to me. They really look as if Google doesn't want anyone to click them. And now you tell us they pay you 10 cents per FF referral? Why bother if you can get 10 cents a click for regular Adsense ads?

They only pay lower for referalls from 'other' places.. i've gotten $1 for every single one of my FF referals.

I get 10 cents . I live in an 'underdeveloped country' . That could be the problem.

I am thinking of removing the Firefox Referral.

10 cents is better than no cents

yeah, and hundreds of those 10 cents daily would add up too! Plus no way all clicks would be at minimum, you are bound to see hifger numbers.
Firefox is perfect where regular ads don't perform well and drag down your eCPM.
