Google spiders the text of the page to work out what ads to target to the page content.

"I built a site based on $80 keywords and am getting 1c per click" is a frequent thread here. If you were an advertiser, would you hand over a blank cheque to an advertising agency and let them shove your ad wherever with no controls as to how effective the advertising is? That would be insane, yet that is what some people truly believe should happen. Advertisers only pay out high value clicks where they will get value for money. If your site doesn't convert for advertisers, then Google's smart pricing algorithm will discount that click heavily. Hence to get high value clicks day in, day out you need to provide advertisers with a site that has visitors that click through to their ads and make purchases, or in some way satisfy Google that the click converts for the advertiser.

I can't understand the first part of the question - sorry.

Please note the T&Cs:

5. Be descriptive, specific, and succinct in your postings. This way your opinion and point is clearly understood and referenced. Remember, people from all over the world read here with english as a second language.

Text language is NOT a good way to gain assistance here!

Just wondering how Google is able to tell how a click from a publishers web site results in a purchase?

If your pages are written like that, maybe AdSense is having a hard time trying to "Sense" what you are really talking about.

There is always conversion tracking. Advertisers can add this facility to their account and have about 5 options that Google will track - including an actual purchase.

Google also uses algorithms to work out what traffic it thinks converts, but I think that means waving a bit of seaweed around in the air and thinking of a number basically.
