How many ad units per page is good?

Do I need to decrease ad units to earn more money?

Hi friends

Does decreasing ad units in a page will give us more earnings?
If it is how many number of ad units are better to use in a single page?

thanks in advance.

It depends on a lot of factors. Generally speaking as long as a visitor doesn't feel overwhelmed by the number of ads, you can add as many as you want and not more than 3, of course (not so many, then :)).
And naturanlly there's one important fact: the more ads you have, the less money you get for a click, as google tries to show the best paying ads first.

So in answer to your question: decreasing ad units in a page can either give more or less earnings.

Which will be in your case? You have to try yourself

Good luck

For me, one well placed ad works the best. I think to many ads clutter the pages and may confuse my visitors, who are actually at my site to view my content.

On short pages, I have one at the top and one at the bottom. On long pages, one at the top center, and one at the top left. At least for me that works.

Just try experimenting for a week, and compare the results.

I've tried various combinations, and found that having several ad blocks per page earned less than one well placed on! I now have one ad block in the premuim position, and an adlinks unit at the bottom of the page.

That's what works for me, but I'd be inclined to experiment on your site to see what works for you.

I think that a big factor could be in the balance between the amount of content and the amount of ad blocks.

On sites with little content, a small ad block like a half banner or 125x125 could be good; on a site with lots of text, a large rectangle might be better because it can "compete" better for the viewer's attention.

So...it could come down to the ad/content balance on a particular page, and how well they compete in balance together for the viewer's focus.

I used to be concerned about too many ads hurting my earnings. But lately I put an ad across the end of long article pages and find I do get some clicks and an improvement in earnings. I guess people who actually read or skim all of an article would see the ad at the bottom while the ads above the fold would no longer be visible.

For a while the theory on this forum was taht it helps to get rid of low ctr ads as it they hurt you with smart pricing. It appears to me this wasn't accurate. I belive it's how well your the clicks convert not how many clicks you get. So it shouldn't hurt that an ad unit at the bottom of a page gets lower CTR.
