Is 15% CTR Asking for Trouble?

Can One Be Penalized for High CTR?

Can one be penalised for having a high CTR? Mine has been an average 15% for about 4 days, ever since I started using adwords to promote the site. Not bad, and so far covering the cost of the campaign.

Google loves it as long as there are no fraudulent clicks. I have a site that gets an avg of >20% for more than a year now, there's no problem so far. I just make sure that all my site comply with google adsense tos.

I had a ctr this high, but it was on the back of some MFA's that paid poorly. Dumping MFA's reduced my ctr to a third, but the income has increased.

So if the ads yoiu are seeing are genuine ads for goods / services / bonafide information sites then you will be doing very well. If the sites are MFA's then you might consider blocking them and see if that makes a difference to the bottom line cash figure.

Not high at all. One niche site I have consistently gets between 20-30% CTR. It all has to do with how relevant the ads are to the user at that page, the search term or link that brought them and how your ads are placed.

Indeed, no worries. I got a few pages with 25% ctr for over 6 months now. Such a shame there are so little pageviews:-(

CTR is not a problem, time spent at the advertisers website is.

Don't worry. Once I had a CTR of 300+%. One visitor clicked on three ads. It happens from time to time. By the end of the day it was back to normal around 10%.

The most trouble I can think of with high CTRs is when my wife finds out and starts planning how the money will be used.

I tell my wife Adsense is a computer game and the money is not real;-)

Not a problem. I have one page that gets well over 50% clickthrough every day and has for months.

it's nice to know it's ok... i've been getting very high (for me) CTRs the last few weeks of 15%-25%... Shame that earnings per click dropped, but the improved traffic (re-listed high in google) and increased ctr have MORE than made up for it...

Congrats on a great forum
