Yes - can't access it from Japan. It's not much to worry about...this happens from time to time, but is soon fixed.

I can't even get in right now, yet the search part of the Google site does work.

Is this related to my previous post at [webmasterworld.com...] Are you using Opera as your browser?

I can't access the login page with IE, either through my bookmark, or through the link in the Business Solutions section at Google.

I click the link it just hangs forever (10 minutes or so) and eventually displays a DNS error.

same problem here. Can't connect to the login page with IE at home. Works from work though, possible routing problem with the ISP maybe? Didn't work with Netscape also so it wasn't a browser isssue.

I guess is it has nothing to do with what browser you use. The ssl server at https://www.google.com is just not responding.

Can't get to it here on any browser. Bummer.

Luckily, ads are still being served.

I noticed a short period earlier where no ads were being served on our site. Not sure if it's related or not. For the last 3 days it's been difficult to login.

Try dropping the "www" - that is, try [google......]

Well what do you know. Dropping the www works for me too!

Knew I came to the right place.

I am curious but what difference would dropping the www make? Surely they are one and the same no? Why would people be able to get in without the www and not with?

it could be a DNS problem on their end. "www" may have inadvertantly been pointed someplace else...or for those of us having problems the DNS servers we use had a wrong entry propogated to them?

But while I can't get to
[google.com...] (Doesn't even bring up an error message.)
I can get to
[google.com...]

[google.com...]
redirects to
[google.com...]

It's like the www doesn't work only when you try to get to the adsense directory.

Hmm. I've heard of some scumware that hijacks www.google.com; in theory that could be it. You might want to do a quick spybot check with the latest version of spybot..

Good idea, but, nah, that was the first thing I thought of. Ran two anti-spyware checks right away, and my system's clean.

That aside, I'm now able to get to AdSense with and without the www. Perhaps it was ISP-specific? I'm on Earthlink DSL here... and they've been known to have DNS-related hiccups in the past.

Very strange; bad DNS entries can cause that sort of lingering inability to reach a site, and taking off the www would fit with that. Is anyone still seeing problems getting to Google?

I was able to get in this afternoon (with the www, didn't try without it), but now it's hanging again and I can't get in with any variation of the address.

GoogleGuy: yes, the problems started for me about 2am Pacific time last night from home. It was working fine before that and then it just hangs when trying to access www.google.com/adsense.

Went to work this morning and the first time that I accessed www.google.com it was fine, then the second time it did the same thing that my home computer did.

we all seem to be able to reach it by going to google.com/adsense though.

Yes, same here - on and off all day www. hasn't worked but google.com/adsense has been fine

I tried two different ISPs, and both of them won't let me in unless I get rid of the www. It's like there's a robot.txt file there telling our ISP to not let us in unless the www's gone!

The weird thing is this continues to be on-again-off-again for me (even though I thought it seemed to be 'fixed'). Though, as another poster noted, I, too can still always get in by ommitting the 'www'.
