Blending and using advertise on this site?

Does the use of "advertise on this site" detract from clicks?

I was wondering how many people have turned on the "advertise on this site" option and whether that had any effect on your click-through rates?

I'm considering turning that option off to see if the ads would blend better with the content and increase the click-throughs. I wonder if people see the word "advertise" everywhere and start ignoring the ads.

I'll report if I notice anything significant.

I removed "advertise on this site" from my site, as it was distracting and the CTR dropped. Maybe it won't affect some sites and certain layouts, but it seemed to help my site by removing that extra text.

While it may be because of other reasons, we noticed a dramatic increase in our earnings when removing the "advertise on this site" feature..

After reading this thread I decided to opt out of the "Advertise on this site feature"
A couple of questions though. The text is still appearing on my site, do I have to go and replace the code, or will it disappear after a certain amount of time?

Give it 24 to 48 hours for the text to be gone.

ah, I was wondering why people are always talking about removing that advertise on this site thing. I guess I'll give it a try without it then.

I removed the option and the "advertise on this site" disappeared after a couple of hours. We'll see how a full day without them goes now...

Bump -- any results from your tests?

Seemed like a slight minor improvement on my forum site, but nothing big. Strangely, today is an off day (down from usual by about $20) though I don't think it's related to removing the "advertise on this site" feature. Tough to figure out that black box...

I've been noticing that pattern for the past few days. I just replaced the public service announcements with an alternate color that matches my page. At least that way, it will blend in. My eCPM is down due to all of those public service announcements showing up.

For what it's worth, I removed "Advertise on this site" because I have several completely different sites, and a person who may want to advertise on one would very likely NOT want to advertise on another.

I emailed Google about being able to separate site or even channels ("Advertise on this page, yes, this one, this exact page you're looking at now"), which I think would be great, but they didn't seem enthused about the idea.

Anything specific to be targetted for my site did not work out, it just made my CTR and EPC down.

I am just thinking about it.

My main income are theme oriented subdomains from my main domain.

But the themes are very wide, so I think a domain wide advertising makes no sense.

Does "advertise on this site" mean only to make an offer for CPM ads on the whole site?

When it could be at last brought down to folder level, but even there, a fair report can also be thematic wide spread.
