I have a conspiracy theory that G detects your IP address when you log into your Adsense account and then blocks that address from viewing ads when sites associated with the account are visited!
It's strange. It's happening on two sites.
Check your hosts file. I had the same problem when I first started with adsense. A nasty little spyware program had altered it.
Might not be what's wrong with your machine, in fact there might not be anything wrong at all, but it's worth a look.
2. Those who prefer not to see the ads on their own page (webmasters) are presumably those who have no interest in analising/monitoring what is happening on their site re: Adsense?
The blocking hosts file is on my browsing pc. It is only this pc which I chose to block spyware / ads sites.
larryhatch, that's a good point. I read on another thread that some guy's girlfriend clicked on his ads to cheer him up. She sounds as if her host file needs something like:
www*.* 127.0.0.1
:)
This is what i was told to do and it worked. This is a email from Google.
thank you for following up. We can view ads on your site from our end,
which leads us to suspect that the problem may be local to your machine.
There are a couple more things you can try. Please note that these
suggestions involve altering important files within your computer. Please
be cautious when proceeding
First, you may want to check your hosts file which is usually located at
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts . Sometimes 3rd party software
alters this file. If any of the following entries are present, please
delete them.
# [Google Inc][Restricted Zone site]
127.0.0.1 adwords.google.com
127.0.0.1 pagead.googlesyndication.com
127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com
127.0.0.1 adservices.google.com
127.0.0.1 www.googleadservices.com
If this doesn't work, there is a chance you will need to re-register the
following file in your computer's registry. To do so:
- Click Start -> Run
- Type in regsvr32 jscript.dll and press enter
I did all of this and it was up and working!... to locate the phrases faster i did a search. Hit view and search. Make sure its exactly what is here to remove.
Goodluck!
