Was looking around ebay last night at the "Adsense Goldmines" available for less than $10 - all with MP3 downloads etc. I know - I really should be doing something better for kicks that that on a Saturday night. Anyway - noticed a new trick.
One of the "Goldmines" was actually a Wordpress blog using the default skin. Currently Wordpress don't allow advertising on blogs. Wonder if the new owner will get busted by Google or Wordpress first? :)

was the blog hosted by wordpress? If so, then I didn't think they allowed any javascript on their hosted blogs (meaning that it wasn't possible even if you tried)
I don't the wordpress organization cares about advertising on blogs powered by their software that they don't host.

Hi Dave,
Firstly let me just make it clear I haven't a wordpress blog - however I've seen many out there with adsense on. Where did you get the info saying that they won't allow adsense? Surely if you use their script on your server - it is okay?

I get a kick out of the eCommerce sites up for auction on eBay. There are hundreds of them! Supposedly, they have done all the work for you...but in reality they have done nothing. Look very closely at what they are offering before jumping.

Wordpress have hosted blogs, which are quite a different thing from downloading their software and using it to create a blog on your own server space.
In the hosted blogs, advertising is not allowed. Of course when you are just using the software it is totally up to you what ads you have.

Must have not been a hosted one. It simply amused me that someone was trying to sell a blog with no ads on, on as an adsense goldmine that contained mp3 downloads.

Indeed, LOL. I have even seen offers for "ready-to-use" Adsense websites containing mainly links to adult material. Who on earth is going to buy that? By the way, eBay should kick those thugs out right away!

i use adsense on my wordpress site, works fine. yeah, wordpress does have a (fairly small) hosted service which they offer for free (though sometimes there's a waiting list). it's probable that its against their hosted tos.

eBay really needs to make a section that is truely just for selling domain names that don't include content or some scheme. That catagory has gotten so spammed that it is just not worth looking at any more.

It would be nice to have a domain name-only section for ebay, but they may not want the hassle (although I'm sure it would do well if setup properly).

It would need to be moderated heavly. They have a lot of provlems with people not following the posting rules. I am always finding spam in the wrong topics.

Sorry disagree Essex Boy. It is sheer greed that makes them pay lots of money. A quick pound!
Why not research something properly first. Nobody forces them to buy anything.

Incidentally I don't sell any.

Just the latest way to sell the time old "get rich working at home" schemes, used to be envelope stuffing sold via magazine ads, now its Adsense sites sold via Ebay. They are there because there are people in the world who lack common sense, always has been, always will be.
