It's not possible without breaking Google's TOS.

So it's not recommended, unless you want to get banned.

Ops...ok.

So, they monitor the people so they cannot do this without being banned?

I added a small text above the ads telling people to open the ad in another window. I suppose this is not ok too...

No, it's not ok.

You can't draw attention to the ads. Read the TOS.

A message like the one you put up may be counter-productive, too. Many people will ignore it, and click the ads in the usual way. Others who might have clicked will consider it an added burden, and not click at all.

Opening new windows so that people will come back to your site is not a very useful strategy, IMO. People know how to use the back button.

<thread hijack>

I found a site that does have their ads opening in a new window. I don't really know javascript, but I didn't see anything that they could have put in there (didn't notice any modification to the google code) to get the ads to open in a new page. I doubt this is the case with this particular site, but are premium publishers allowed to have their links open in a new window?

To clarify this, no one is allowed to have the ads open in a new window. If you are really in the "feel of justice" go to the Adsense help page to report it.

Don't report me :)!
Now my ads are normal!
