I ran a test yesterday on a few sites with a Chitika banner at the top of the page. I didn't remove my AdSense ads from any of the pages. Unfortunately, the Chitika info isn't in yet from yesterday to compare/contrast, but my AdSense CTC rate was way down. It's not that surprising, given that a glut of advertising can cause ad blindness and/or simply make it that much less likely for AS click-throughs. I removed them for today (since it was a one-day test; I know that's not the most scientific thing to do, but I don't want to take cash off the table.) For those of you who mix the two (Chitika and AdSense), what results along those lines have you seen?

I haven't tried Chitika yet, but I can attest to the fact (my fact) that Adsense and Amazon ads on the same page contend for user attention and clicks. In the recent past, when I promoted Amazon more, Adsense clicks declined, and vice versa. I now keep Amazon ads off my Adsense earning pages. I only include Amazon ads on pages where Adsense earned so little that I pulled the latter. YMMV.

My AdSense CTR is lower and my AdSense earnings are also about 40 percent lower than before but my overall income is way up.

I've been running both programs side by side on a faily diverse range of sites with no noticeable down-turn in AdSense CTR.

However, I would argue that if you place a colourful and eye-catching Chitika ad beside your AdSense block you may even push up your CTR. On the other hand, you may see a drop in CTR but a rise in eCPM because what traffic clicks through is more targeted than ever and hence more willing to spend ... so you may actually benefit from it. :)

what can you earn with chitika?
- Nothing.
How much do they pay you per click? 2 cents? 3 cents? 5 cents? or maybe 6 cents?

I think I will stick with GOogle.

I've been running Chitika with Yahoo ads since Sept. and Yahoo CTR has only gotten stronger. However, I don't assign anything causal there because Yahoo's targeting has gotten so much better. For all I know, without Chitika on there too, CTR for Yahoo might be even higher than it is. But I like the increased diversity of income streams, even at the risk of losing out on a couple dollars/day.

Father_of_9, Chitika seems to pay about 0.40$ per click. I still have to face their first auditing process, but that should change the number of valid clicks and not EPC. I'm experimenting with AdSense and Chitika and, paying enough attention, it's not a bad mix. I replaced poorly performing AdSense banners with highly hand-targeted eMiniMalls with interesting results.
