Strange stats: Adsense vs Chitika

Explain this one... I am running Adsense on nearly every page on my web site. I am running Chitika on about half the pages on my site but it is on the pages with the most traffic. Since I have added Chitika (a week ago) it is showing about 50% higher impressions per day that Adsense. ex: If Adsense were around 4500 per day, Chitika is at 6200 per day.

Can anyone think of an explanation?

On my site, there is a lot of back and forth navigation. I don't think AS counts an impression when someone returns to a previously visited page and gets served the same ads. My server log shows pageviews about 2x more than the AdSense impressions.

Yeah Chitika tends to count things and ask questions later. :)

Could it be that visitors are using the search tab on chitika?

Does it have anything to do with Adsense Alternate ads? I know that on my site, I have anywhere from 25%-50% of the time the Alternate ads displaying. (As an aside, does anybody have any feedback on what's "normal" for percentage of alternate ads?)
