So I will be receiving my first paycheck from Google soon. I just want to ask all the oldtime Filipino Adsensers if you've had any problems receiving your check via our postal service or does Google send it thru other means?
vbignacio, I was once like you 5 month ago. You know, based from my experience, first times realy s**ks. I`ll share to you my experience which I quoted from my blog;
"Around first week of June, this year. I received my first check of my earnings from Google Adsense. Of course, I was so happy 'coz I had proven already that all this Adsense things are really true. The check was delivered in our office by DHL. To avoid the month long waiting time for the clearing of check, I choose to receive a check in local currency. The clearing time of checks in local currency usually takes 3 days compared to dollar currency that usually takes a month to clear.
A day after I received the check, I went to Citibank Makati to in cash the check because the check indicates that it is payable to that bank. But what I discovered brought me to desperation because according to Citibank, I need to have a P100,000 to open an account, but I don't have that amount of money. So, my problem then is how can I in cash my check.
What I did is I requested Google to cancel my check and to resend me another check, now, in dollar currency. In dollar currency because I thought It will lessen the problems in opening an account. Google immediately answered my inquiry and they promise to resend my check in the next payment period. But two payment periods has already gone up but they havent included it in the succeding payments, until I loss hope.
It was only yesterday that I noticed that they include my unsent payment for July's earning and hope to receive it either this week or next week. I thought Google will not send my money anymore.
Actually, the payment is not that big compaired to my July earnings. Wala lang, sayang din kasi.
It was only last month that I discovered that I can open an account in any bank, not just in Citibank, where an initial deposit is very much lower. But it was to late when I descovered that.
Wew... first times are really always memorable and challenging.

You do not need to go to Citibank to encash your check. Just deposit it to your peso account at any bank and it will be cleared after 3 days.

I'm thinking that we'll get the check on 2nd or 3rd week of this month, that is if you opted for ordinary check delivery. It is still too early to fret about it.
But with regards to your question, actually you can do that. I used to deposit (for collection) my Google dollar check in to my Metrobank peso savings account back in the time when Google only send dollar checks and I still didn't had a dollar account. Whenever the check clears the bank just credit my peso savings account. But it still have to clear for about 15-20 working days so it's better to just get a peso check so it will be much faster.
I think regular checks are sent from Singapore, I have received mine here in HK on the 1st of Nov. I opted for local currency to avoid the delay of encashing the check.
If you're money is not so big, I suggest getting the check in peso so you can spend the money sooner. I use to receive USD check, the difference in the google exchange rate is very small when comparing to local bank rate.
Btw, I'm glad seeing more pinoys here.
And with regards to the post office thieves, I think whatever currency you have is not exempted to them unless they have a fake ID with your name on it for them to open an account or encash it with a fake ID (if that works). Again, since there is a note in the check "for payees account only" it will be hard for them to encash it or deposit to other account. Nice to know that there are many filipinos that participated in adsense.....mabuhay!
"it doesnt take long to clear, we dont have enough time to have google cancel it if it gets stolen since the would-be theif could encash it immediately."
as for the "for payees account only" anyone can have fake IDs made in Recto that will be used to open a 500 pesos account with smaller banks so they can encash it in a matter of days whereas with dollar checks, it would take a little longer so we still have enough time to report it to google. i hope you got my point here.
As a Filipino advertiser, you are eligible to receive checks in pesos. For a complete list of countries where local currency checks are available, please see:

Also, if you're interested in receiving checks by Secure Delivery, you might be interested in the following Google help page:

Hope that helps!

next time i will opt for secure delivery. and i think i will withold my payment until it reaches $300 so the $24 fee is worth it.
primeous, did you use you check to open the dollar account or did you open it using your own cash?
anyway, did any of you kababayans got your check for September already?
thanks!
We all have different opinions but I agree on opting for secure delivery in the future( maybe if I earn at least US$300 ) ;)
