Well, if lobbying firms help them to change the US government's mind on stuff like the recent privacy issues then they can't be all bad, right?

Well, if lobbying firms help them to change the US government's...

They think that public opinion will more easily swallow a term like "lobbying" than "corrupting". That is exactly the reason why this word was coined. "Lobbying" is just another synonym of "corrupting". No more, no less! Recognizing the fact that a political system can not function without activities like "lobbying", plainly means to recognize the fact this political system can not function without bribery. And yet, just imagine, there are firms specialized in giving bribes to politicians (pardon me, wanted to say lobbying)! Sad...
