What will google do with the IPO funds?

They're going to get an influx of 5 billion + in cash. It's hard to imagine they're going to just sit on it.

Any thoughts on what they might actually do with the money?

After Sergey has had a good woman for a night or two I doubt there will be much left over!

I suspect they will spend the residual on buying up a few small companies that appear to offer a long term future.........fatal mistake!

I think they're going to do a lot of things.

1. Hire a *lot* more people to do what they already do: more people working on algorithms, more people working on spam/fraud detection, etc.

2. Invest more money in some of the things they have a finger in (Blogger, Orkut, Froogle, Gmail).

3. Advertising like crazy.

4. But complementary companies.
