YES.

Your links or main group of links should be at the top of your HTML, content in the middle and footer as the name says at the foot of the document.

Elements placed at the top of the HTML are ranked higher in importance than elements which are at the bottom.

eg.
<div id="container">

<div id="navi">Links</div>

<div id="content">Main Content</div>

<div id="footer">Footer Content</div>

</div>

Elements placed at the top of the HTML are ranked higher in importance than elements which are at the bottom.

If that's the case, then shouldn't the content come first, with the nav second?

Agreed... menu AFTER the content... especially if your menu is a heaping pile of smelly Javascript and HTML

However, if your menu is a nice styled list with keyword rich anchor text, the line might not be so clear ...

Obviously there are a lot of differences between the way people think about SEO/SEM/PPC.

This isnīt the right Forum to discuss it but I will try to explain what i meant in my first post.

I personally do or try to do intensive insite linking, which means my site(s) will be indexed faster,
to achieve this my links are always at the top(Source code) and phrases or words which are in the content will
also be interlinked.

I agree with "Don_Hoagie", if the menu is based completely in JS then I wouldnt care where it is, but
I dont use JS for menu structure and I also dont use images as menus, as they are lower ranked
in importance.

Links should always carry your keywords or phrases.

Keywords / phrases in the "content" are obviously important. How and where they are placed plays a big part as well eg. Headlines, Bold etc.

I have spent lots of time in the net reading and researching SEO/SEM/PPC and have worked with people
who are specialised on SEO, everyone has their own opinion how everything works.

My way works for me, it might not work for others. All i can say is try try and try again, until you
get the results which you want

Im far from being an expert in SEO, so all I can say is use the SEO forum(s) and you will find extensive
and good information on everything you need or want to know.

SEO is like a game, find a strategy that works and your half way there.

Read the forums and take in what the experts have to say.
