i cant select more than 1 line of text at a time on these pages with absolute positioning and css...
i dont really know css and this is automatically generated...i need absolute positioning because the pages are complicated and look good this way..
however, only the page titles show up in SEs...no text at all and I think its related...
Is there some way I can find and replace the offending elements?
here are some samples of what is on my page...
#p49 {position: absolute; left: 149.22px; top: 83px; width: 182.87px; height: 17.74px; z-index: 10049;}
#pageSizer { position: absolute; left: 0px; top: 0px; width: 918.00px; height: 1188.00px; z-index: -20; }
#navSel { position: absolute; left: 0px; top: 1208px; width: 918.00px; z-index: 1000000;}
</DIV>
<DIV>
<P ID="p49"><bdo dir=ltr><SPAN ID="textStyle0">Lunes 4 de abril de 2005 </SPAN></bdo></p>
</DIV>
<DIV>
<P ID="p48"><bdo dir=ltr><SPAN ID="textStyle0">DIARIO OFICIAL </SPAN></bdo></p>
</DIV>
<DIV>
<P ID="p47"><bdo dir=ltr><SPAN ID="textStyle0">3 </SPAN></bdo></p>

Absolute positioning and z-index will make this happen, since elements are being stacked on top of each other. If one element sits over top of another, it's no longer accessible to mouse clicks and text selection (other than CTRL+A). However, I've never heard of z-index having any effect on whether or not a page is indexed or whether or not a spider sees the text.
If you really want to know whether the pages are readable by spiders, try running the url through SEW's Spider Simulator [searchengineworld.com]. If that tool shows no text, you know the spiders aren't reading any either.
I suspect the zindexing and abs pos has nothing to do with how SEs are treating your page, but the non-selectability of text is almost certainly related.
