I am looking at a way to gaina dropshadow for a site. But solely for the outer edge of the page.
any ideas?

You may use a few (3-4) nested DIVs to do this. This's quite easy.

Go check out 'Alistapart' (Google it if you dont know it already). There's some excellent tutes on css drop shadows there. :)
