Safari and min-height

I'm attempting to make an unordered list into a menu using the method outlined at the foot of the page at this A List Apart article [#*$!.com...]

I've editted the css to use a min-height tag, as each menu item I use a different length.

It works fine on OPera (PC), IE (PC), Firefox (Mac/PC) but on Safari it ignores the min-height altogether. (it does the same in Mac IE, but I'm not bothered about that)

Any clues

Safari doesn't support min-height and max-height..
