form elements - background colour

can't seem to get consistancy

No matter what I do, I can't seem to apply a style to text boxes and text areas, and have the background colour display the same each time, sometimes , my colour is overidden by the default IE colour.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I have never seen problems with changing the background colours of text inputs and textareas - which version of IE are you testing with? There are some restrictions with IE with styling select lists.

I wonder if this could be the Google toolbar or IE auto complete function? These restyle the background colour text inputs that they have a suggested auto complete entry for?
