external css and tables

Hi,

im new to webmaster wold and was hoping somebody could help me.

I would like to know how to set a tables properties in a external css, i also give it a class name in an external css so that when i import it(the css) i only have to state the class name in the table code, instead of all of its properties.

Properties such as border color, background color, cell spacing etc
