FOUC in Opera 7.21?

Doesn't seem to accept the usual hacks?

Hi,

I know about the fouc problem with IE, but testing my pages with opera 7.21 seems to bring about a similar problem. This is solved in IE by adding one LINK tag into the head part of the document.

However, this doesn't solve the problem. I have tried importing my stylesheet (@import), and using the standard link method. I have other link elements in my head, like favicon and print stylesheet (link method).

When entering the page, there doesn't appear to be a problem, but when you click reload, fouc appears. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any suggestions for solutions?

I think I remember hearing that Opera was designed with presenting content as a priority. So while other browsers might get the whole html file and wait a moment while it gets other stuff, Opera renders it even without the stylesheet. This makes the whole experience seem slightly faster, though a bit less polished.

You can try to change the setting "Preferences->Windows->Loading".

What's best for you depends on your connection speed and also the performance of your computer.

I am glad that it is the way that Opera is made, rather than a problem on my pages. Since there is nothing I can really do about it, I just leave things how they are.
