Background Image

From root

The image I define as a background does not seem to appear when I define
it from the root:

background-image: url(/a-images/px_litegray.gif);

whats the deal?

I do believe that the path has to be relative to the location of the style sheet. I have to support NN4 so I use absolute links for some urls.

Root relative should work too.
What happens if you try to pull up the image directly in your browser?
