Performance over the last week

Terrible for us, how about you?

Over the past seven days our Adwords performance has been very sub par. Our campaign has cost us roughly the same amount of money that it always has and the traffic remains constant but the conversion rate for this traffic has severely dropped. The performance of our AdWords traffic this past week is about 60% of what it should be while all of our other campaigns are right around the normal levels.

We called our rep last week and he had no real explination for the poor performance and he said that other accounts he serviced were experiencing similar problems.

Is anyone else here experiencing something similar?

July was a very great month for me, then once August 1st
got here, I don't know what happened, but my sales from
Adwords took a BIG decline. Seems strange.

Right there with you....two separate large accounts. Wierdest thing. SEO sales still strong though.

I am somewhat new to Google Adwords, at least on the large scale that I am working now.

Has there been similar terrible weeks in the past? Do you think this is just new partner that is gobbling up clicks with their terrible traffic? If so, is google good at getting rid of such partners?

I am afraid this could be evidence of a larger shift in quality traffic away from google after yahoo's acquisition of overture, (but I doubt it).

Weird thing is that I started getting a lot more sales from the free google referrals starting August 1st.

Over here in Europe we experienced the same thing last August so we assume it is the holiday season

I can't believe that it can be anything to do with the
holidays. How can things be going great all month one
month, and then all at once when a new month starts
everything just seems to almost stop. Traffic levels are
still just as high or higher, but sales are much lower.

exactly what I was thinking myself.

For some reasons, our sites in August is always plagued with the most useless visitors of the year. I suppose that AdWords is no exception...

I'd be right there with you, if SEO sales weren't still going strong.

I've actually had a pretty normal ROI for the month of August so far.

I HAVE only been doing this since mid-May, so take my advice with a granule of Sodium Chloride. :)

Maybe people with jobs and money go away somewhere nice for their holiday during August, where they probably don't spend much time surfing the internet.

At the same time lots of students etc... with loads of time on their hands (but little money) probably start surfing the web due to lack of much else to do.

hobbnet, I've had an identical problem so you're not alone. I think it's just an August thing. Last year was similar.

my total impressions in August are about double what they were in July--which I'm sure is just a mad rush to AdSense based on how much $$$ early adopters are making.

Sales seem to have recovered over the last 5 days, for me
at least. Don't know what happened the first part of the
month.
