We are starting an adwords program. Have most adwords clients kept their same index page or started a new one?

I can never leave the design alone so I designed a new target page specifically for the adwords.

You would want to use a new page only if you want to compare the conversion rates of the two designs. If you are worried about the quality of clicks from AdWords, use the exisiting page along with a good keyword/ROI tracking software.

Great .. That makes sense. It's hard for me to step back and give the design the breathing room it needs to prove itself.

Why not do a split test?

Split testing will let you test both landing pages at the same time - send half the visitors to your original page and half to your new page. Once you've got some results, go with the one that has the highest conversion rate.
