How much are you guys spending on Adwords a day? I need to know a good price to start. To put me in the #1 spot I would have to be paying $8.00 per click - putting me at roughly $90.00 a day for 29 clicks... how do you guys afford this?

Sickened,

It doesn't really matter what others are spending on their campaigns as long as they are making a good ROI.

If you cannot earn any money at $8 then don't spend it, look at a cost per click that will give you a good return.

Using exact matches is a way to drive your CPC down a little too. For my "main" keyword, the broad match costs me 3 times as much to be in #5 as the exact match costs me to be #1. I get the same amount of traffic, and my conversion is much better. :)

I've found (with normal results too) that you don't necessarily have to be in the #1 spot. At the bottom of the first page, you can still get quite a few clicks, especially if it's for a hot topic. I'd say start with whatever you can afford and go up as you get more sales.
