I had to make a site change so I paused my adwords campaign for a week. Now i'm trying to resume them but I keep getting this message.

Am I being penalized for pausing them? What gives?

You simply can't have more than 25 active campaigns at once. No one can.

You can have 500 paused campaigns and 500 deleted campaigns, but no more than 25 active.

That's never been a big issue here. Perhaps you're creating campaigns where simply additional Adgroups would do?

Yup never reached even close to 25 campaigns. Though I'm thinking they should allow more campaigns now, since it would help in better targeting (not only language and location but also search/content networks). Can try using the same ad groups with just different targeting options in new campaigns.

this isnt acctualy true, we are running a campaign with 26... it was created through the API and we have been told it was an error, however the campaign is still active.. making 26 active campaigns.

but in general you cant have more than 25, make a new account and an MCC and link the two accounts to the mcc.

Yes, if you make a second adwords account, use a diffrent username and password, and make sure you dont double up on keywords!

then make a My Clients Center(MCC) and link both your account to that MCC.... then you will only need to login once to view both accounts!

Why can't you bid on the same keywords under different accounts in MEC?

You can. But, it'll be treated as if they were in one account - i.e. only one of the two (or more) ads will be available to run at a time
