that dropped my ctr into the dirt. i have about 13k impressions now and 33 clicks.
also with the new bill cycle i had about $2 dollars in fees and today i had no clicks and slight impressions and it's now at $4.11 what made it go up with no one clicking?
To me, it suggests your keywords aren't targeted enough to what you're selling. If many of your keywords are in that condition, you're account can't afford the permenant effect it will have on your CTR. Try for some more specific phrases & negative keywords.
Search on your keywords, see what kinds of ads turn up. For instance if you're a 'red widget' person, the worst thing to do is to use just plain 'widget' as a keyword. You'll turn up on every search for 'widget' (but not for too long!) and may find that a majority of the ads under 'widget' are selling something completely different.
Your keyword may have dual meanings too. Perhaps there is a vacation town called Widget, California that gets a lot of searches.
In which case, you'll want to apply negative keywords to your Adgroup as in -california & -ca & -waterpark
If a lot of the ads are for 'handmade widgets', you'll want to add -handmade to the end of your keyword list so any search including 'handmade' doesn't trigger your ad. Maybe you need -blue,
-yellow, etc to keep those impressions down.
I'm assuming that these are Google and Search Network impressions. A huge # of impressions on the Content network isn't unusual but also may not be worth your while.
The content impressions - or the Search Network impressions - also don't hurt your real CTR since that comes only from Google searches themselves though you have no way of easily determining that number.
So if those are non-content impressions, you certainly want to refine your keyword list somewhat as that's the most likely cause.
