In a new deal Google provides keyword ads to Mapquest.

Visitors to MapQuest requesting maps or driving directions now see offers for further information in six categories, such as hotels, resorts and real estate. Each category links to a page of eight paid listings from Google's AdWords program.

A client reports he's starting to notice "quite a few daily referrals from MapQuest." Too soon to say whether these are converting. He is tracking it.

Visitors... now see offers for further information in six categories, such as hotels, resorts and real estate...

Anyone know what those six categories are? We're trying to figure out what searches trigger the referrals.

Google provides ads to Weather.com also:

The Weather.com deal is similar to a partnerships Google has signed with AOL-owned MapQuest and Switchboard. Mapquest returns listings using Google's AdWords, matching up the city searched with one of six category keywords like hotels and real estate. Switchboard, an online directory, uses AdSense to match paid listing with local content.
