Hello,

I have been earning money on Adsense for a while now - enough to be able to live without a real job - but I've been itching to spend some of that money to advertise in Google Adwords and learn to use the system so I can manage it for others in future and also to get the right kind of new member to my forum.

I requested an Adwords voucher from the support team, and they promised to give me $10 as a 'new' advertiser (unfortunately I'm not new). So I went ahead to get a Virtual VISA Debit Card in my name (normal credit cards are still very new in my country).

Unfortunately, when I tried to use it on Adwords, I got the message "Card Declined". How can I fix this? I guess I should call (though this will be an expensive long-distance call) but do you have any ideas about what might be wrong, and what I can do if I am just told to "wait" when I call?

Thanks!
PS: I will also like to use this thread to ask other questions that may crop up in my Adwords journey.

If you already have an AdWords account, log in to your account and use the email support link to email question you have to AdWords support team.

Then I call them or catch their online chat option, they tell me "aw, I am not able to resolve your problem, I do not know why your card is not accepted. Um, I will forward it to the technical team."

As it happens, I have never recieved an e-mail from this so-called "technical team". They think that I'm an automatic scammer because I am a Nigerian. I'm trying to use a VISA Gift Card obtained through Graphcard and they simply won't accept it.

I'm frustrated beyond words. I run a site with thousands of visitors a day. Surely I can afford the $5 it takes to activate the account, huh?

Wow, I finally got a response: "Your ads weren't running because your account was under review". And an apology: "We apologize for the disruption to your ad delivery."

I'm so glad. Now the journey begins!
