Has anyone noticed that Netscape is serving pages with pre-configured Google Adwords search results.

On the right hand gutter their you will notice search hyperlinks. Click the link and you will see the "search" results.
IMHO this is not search traffic. If you find yourself in the top 1 or 2 positions you get hammered with traffic and costs but very poor conversions.

Should this be considered "search"?

Welcome to webmaster World.

I just had a look and saw links to search pages for such things as widget rates and widget refinancing and when you clicked on it you were served a regular search page with both sponsered links and what appear to be AdWords.

On the one hand I would agree that this is not direct search however these types of services are broad in appeal and I can see how it would attract a lot of people sitting on the fence about these items. It is, however, not pure search - more like the content ads served up by AdWords. Compared to some of the stuff that some of the other PPC search engines are doing this is pretty mild and has the potential for good ROI.
