I recieved an email from a Submission place today something caught my attention.
With over 100,000 advertising customers, and more than 200 million searches a day, Google is one of the biggest companies involved with buyers and sellers in the business-to-business area. Google's keyword advertising program lets businesses reach searchers across many different topics and search terms.
If there are 3 billion web pages and only 100,000 paying customers then something like .0033% are using Adwords.
This is disturbing to me, because everyone here says you have to do Adwords, or dont complain yet 99.9967% of the rest of the people dont do Adwords.
Ok lets say only 10% are actually selling something, thats 300 million webpages so now we only have .033% using Adwords, and 99.967% not using adwords.
My feeling is Google as the #1 search engine needs to provide correct results. I feel Adwords are for people with fancy flash sites, and companies not interested in being on page 2.
However 90% of the complaints here are not about being on page 2, but not being in google at all.
So what Im getting at can 99.967% of all companies selling products be wrong, and WW be right?
3,000,000,000 web pages in Google
Using your 10% are commercial gives us
300,000,000 commercial web pages
If we say there are 300 pages per commercial site (chosen at random to make the maths simple) then you get
1,000,000 commercial web sites.
So, with 100,000 web sites advertising that leads to a 10% of commercial web sites advertising on Google.
This is, of course, all guess work.
