AdWords Content Syndication

Any way to see where those clicks are coming from?

I just wanted to check where the content ads are being shown for one of my keywords - more exactly, where the visitors are coming from. However, the referer is pagead.googlesyndication.com for all those visitors, which doesn´t help much.

Is there a way to see where those visitors are really coming from?

Hi sudden,

I'm pretty sure this not possible at the moment.

However, search for your displayed URL and the first line of your Adwords copy text (in quotes) and you might come across it in SERP.

I think they've fixed it now, but some Adwords got indexed in Google last month when Googlebot went spidering partner sites.

Try to get the full referer. I do this with a little php script on my landing page. for syndication pages you get something like:
h*t*tp://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/ads?client=ca-lycos_de_tripod_
130x600&format=130x600_new&random=1054939931950&hl=de&url=http%3A// here comes the real url

Hope its not against TOS to post this url here.

It's very boring, but you can check your server logs.

Has anyone else noticed that the syndication CTR's are rising. It looks like they are refining the program to be more relevant.

Do you feel the syndication ads are worthwhile? Do they count in your overall CTR?

Just wondering, since I opted out of them a short time after they started, now I'm waiting to see if they are worthwhile.

I was getting pretty poor CTR's with them at the time.

As stated the referals for Syndication are listed in your logs. Now we just need log programs to figure out whats happening to display it nicely :D

>refining the program

From the publisher's side (I've been running 468s on one site since they announced the program -400k+ impressions/mo.), things are surprisingly stable. Defaults haven't really trended up all that much, which would be the case if advertisers were dropping out of the program, so my guess is that they are satisfied with the CTR --or don't know enough to be dissatisfied.

I thought the CTR for the content ads does not affect the ads on Google? So why should I care about a low CTR in my content ads?
