Using Forwarding Urls

Can we use cloaking or forwarding urls?

My marketing platform creates forwarding urls as needed for tracking purposes and I could actually fit one as simple as [w**get.com...] to each group or keyword in a GAW campaign. Is this OK? Or must the underlying url be the actual destination url? If it is OK how explicit could the url be? Cheers, S

The "underlying url" does not need to be the actual destination url. This is why G provides for a display URL and a tracking URL. The destination URL should be used as the display url. Your tracking code just redirects the user to the destination/display url.

You'll want to make sure the visitor can use the back button to get back to google, otherwise the editors will ding your ads.

Thanks so much -- immensely helpful. I am getting some very good responses but need to seriously tweak the tracking. Best, S
